Ties to be played on 22nd October. Winners will join Bourne End SC in the Richard Pither Cup, losers play in the Team Trophy.
There will be a memorial service for David Morris, late captain of Craufurd Crusaders, at All saints church on Friday 5th October at 12 noon and reception at the Con club after. All Welcome.
Good luck to all teams for the new season.
Please remember to send your match results and pennies (at the new rate of £1 per person, minimum £8 per team/£16 per match) to Brian Bannister rather than myself.
Full minutes of the AGM will be provided at next year’s AGM as is standard practice. Here are some notes of immediate importance.
Phil Bond (Chairman) and Alan Glover (Secretary/Match Secretary) both stood down at this meeting.
The new Chairman is Tim Rutland (Craufurd Crusaders) and returning Secretary/Match Secretary is Brian Bannister who held the position prior to Richard Pither. Phil Bond agreed to act as Vice Chairman to ease the transition.
Emily DeFraine continues as Treasurer.
It was proposed and accepted that the 50p Pennies contribution be increased to £1 since the 50p figure has remained unchanged for many years.
It was proposed and deferred that the League should consider funding an additional charity. Under rule 1.2 of the Constitution this can be discussed during the season by calling an EGM.
Brian Bannister provided new contact details for sending results etc. If any team captain missed that at the meeting contact me and I’ll provide the contact details.
All 13 teams from the 2017/18 season have re-registered although there are a couple of home venue changes. These will be covered in the team contact details sheet distributed at the AGM along with changes in team captains.
There may be a 14th team; I was advised of a new team intending to register however they didn’t show up to register. I’m now waiting to hear back from the contact whether they still intend to register.
In any case, the league structure will be the same as the past season and a similar length.
I’m sad to announce that John Bannister, formerly a player and past captain of the Craufurd Arms crib teams, passed away on July 7th.
There is an announcement on page 71 of the current edition of the Maidenhead Advertiser.
My partner and I have decided that the time is right for a move to Cornwall. Consequently, I will not be standing for re-election at this year’s AGM although I will do all the usual design work in advance of the AGM to prepare the next season’s fixtures and venue bookings.
If you’re a team member or team captain and interested in taking the role on for the next season and beyond please get in touch by email or via your team captain.
While computer skills are a bonus, the most important thing is an understanding of how a league operates together with periodic competitions.
While any successor would not be confirmed until the AGM, I’m happy to spend time with any candidates to explain how I’ve run things and some of the techniques I use to help everything run (fairly) smoothly.
A reminder that registration for the next season takes place at Desborough Bowling Club on July 24th from 8pm. The usual fee of £30 will be payable.
Those teams holding cups or shields from the previous season are reminded these need to be returned on July 24th or earlier by arrangement. These are:-
|Tony Blay Shield/Presidents
||Waggon & Horses/Boundary Arms
||Waggon & Horses/Boundary Arms
|Play To Lose (Already returned)
||Bird In Hand
|Team Trophy (Already returned)
||Former Bridge House team
